Eleven Days Through Biblical Egypt

Egypt can make eleven days feel both packed and strangely short. On this trip we went from Cairo to Luxor, down the Nile toward Aswan and Abu Simbel, then back north through Giza, Saqqara, and the eastern Delta. I got to co-lead it with Dr. John DeLancey of Biblical Israel Ministries & Tours, which was a lot of fun after knowing John for years.

Luxor is still one of my favorite places in Egypt. You can stand in front of the temples, walk through Karnak, cross over toward the Valley of the Kings, and just keep running into places you’ve read about for years. No matter how many times I’ve been there, the scale still gets me.

We covered a ridiculous amount of ground, but the part I probably enjoy most is watching people start connecting the geography, the archaeology, and the biblical story for themselves. By the time we reached the eastern Delta and were talking about Goshen, Joseph, and the Exodus, everyone had a lot more context than they did at the beginning of the trip.

I’ve been to many of these places before, but a new group always changes the experience. Someone asks a question I wasn’t expecting. Someone notices something I missed. That’s a big part of why I enjoy doing this through Egypt Christian Tours.

Eleven days went by fast. Egypt usually does.
