ABOUT MY WORK
Teaching through place.
I’m an adventure guide, speaker, researcher, writer, and photographer. Most of what I do comes back to the same thing: going to the place, looking closely at the evidence, and helping people understand what they’re seeing.
The Grand Canyon has been one of my greatest classrooms. Ancient Egypt, the British Museum, archaeological sites, historic churches, and museums around the world have become others. I’m happiest when the subject is tangible—something we can walk through, hold up, map, photograph, or see in its real setting.

Grand Canyon and beyond
I’ve spent more than 1,000 days guiding and teaching in Grand Canyon National Park, led more than 50 multi-day river expeditions, and taught in national parks, museums, archaeological sites, churches, and historic places around the world.

I speak at churches, conferences, universities, classrooms, museums, podcasts, and online events on Grand Canyon geology, science, biblical archaeology, Egyptology, ancient history, and the historical setting of Scripture.

My research interests include biblical archaeology, Egyptology, Ancient Near Eastern history, Grand Canyon geology, field geology, museums, and the geography of biblical events. Current work includes academic papers and several developing book projects.

London Christian Tours
I lead small groups through London and England, spending time in churches, museums, manuscript collections, archaeological exhibits, and the historic places tied to Christian history.
I’m less interested in racing through landmarks than in slowing down enough to understand the people, documents, ideas, and stories connected with them.
Egypt Christian Tours
In Egypt, I teach ancient history, archaeology, biblical history, geology, temples, inscriptions, museum collections, and the geography of Scripture while we move through the country.
The best part is being able to talk about the evidence while we’re standing in the temple, museum, desert, or archaeological site where it actually belongs.
