I guide because place changes the way people understand a subject. Geology makes more sense when the rocks are under your feet. Archaeology becomes tangible when the artifact is in front of you. History becomes memorable when you can walk the streets, temples, museums, trails, and landscapes where it happened.

THE GRAND CANYON
One of my greatest classrooms
Much of my guiding life has been shaped by Grand Canyon National Park and my work with Canyon Ministries.
Rim, Trail & River
I have spent more than 1,000 days teaching in Grand Canyon National Park, along the rim, on trails, and on the Colorado River. That includes more than 50 multi-day rafting expeditions and hundreds of nights camped along the river.
Whether standing at an overlook, hiking below the rim, or teaching from a raft, I enjoy helping people understand the Canyon’s geology, fossils, archaeology, natural history, and biblical significance.
Canyon Ministries
I joined Canyon Ministries in 2014 and later served for five years as Executive Director. I now serve as Director of Ministry Outreach, focusing on speaking, partnerships, educational resources, field teaching, and helping people explore the relationship between God’s Word and God’s world. That work has included rim tours, trail teaching, and multi-day river expeditions.

A landscape built for field teaching
I have guided and conducted research across the American Southwest, including national parks, monuments, museums, archaeological sites, fossil localities, volcanic landscapes, deserts, canyons, and historic places throughout Arizona, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and the wider Colorado Plateau.
These places let us connect geology, natural history, archaeology, Native American history, and the physical geography of the region in a way that simply cannot happen from a classroom alone.

Guiding beyond the Canyon
Museums & Historic Sites
I regularly teach in museums and historic locations on biblical archaeology, Egyptology, ancient civilizations, church history, geology, fossils, and science. A gallery can be every bit as much a field site as a canyon or archaeological ruin, especially when the objects themselves become the starting point for the lesson.
London & England
Through London Christian Tours, I lead small-group educational tours focused on Christian heritage, biblical manuscripts, museums, archaeology, church history, science, and the people and events that shaped the English-speaking Christian world.
Egypt
Through Egypt Christian Tours, I lead biblically focused educational travel through Egypt, connecting archaeology, ancient Egyptian history, geology, temples, inscriptions, museums, and the historical setting of Scripture.

At the heart of what I do is a desire to help people connect places, artifacts, landscapes, history, science, and Scripture. I love teaching with the subject directly in front of us because it makes complex ideas clearer and gives people a framework they remember long after the trip is over.
That same field-based approach also shapes my research and writing, photography, and speaking and teaching.
